The 5-Minute Slab Checklist

What Is Taj Mahal Quartzite?
It comes from Brazil — creamy base, warm undertones, gold and beige veins. Looks like marble, but it's closer to granite in toughness. Won't scratch easily, won't etch from citrus or wine, and handles heat well.

Kitchen vs. Bathroom – Which Thickness?
Kitchen – 3cm. Overhangs need the strength. Oil, sauce, heat, knives — go with polished or leathered. This is where a taj mahal stone slab really earns its keep.
Bathroom – 2cm. Toothpaste, soap, makeup — no heavy impact. Honed or satin cuts glare near mirrors. Perfect for a taj mahal bathroom countertop.
4 Questions for Your Fabricator
"Have you cut Taj Mahal before?" — Ask for photos of past jobs. If they can't show any, find someone else.
"Where will seams go?" — Should be in low-visibility spots — near sink or cooktop. Poor placement can ruin the whole look.
"Can you bookmatch?" — Mirrored veins look incredible. Not every fabricator can do it well.

Sealing and Day-to-Day Care
Polished needs sealing every 1–2 years. Honed or satin? Yearly. Leathered runs 12–18 months. Test it yourself — drip water near the sink. Beads up = sealer good. Soaks in = time to reseal. Cleaning's simple: warm water, dish soap, soft cloth. Skip the vinegar, bleach, or anything with citrus — they eat the sealer. And always use a cutting board. The stone's tough, but it's not a workbench.
5 Questions to Ask Before You Pay
"Video of the actual slab?" — Not a photo. In natural light.
"All from the same batch?" — Non-negotiable for multi-slab jobs.
"Lead time?" — Get a firm date in writing.
"How is it packed?" — Wooden crates + waterproof wrap + corner protection.
"Can you send a sample?" — Legitimate suppliers will. If they won't, red flag.
Quick Answers About Taj Mahal Quartzite
Heat and stains? It handles both well — if you seal it. Without sealer, any stone stains. With sealer, it shrugs off tomato sauce and hot pans. Just don't push your luck — use a trivet.
Put it outside? Wouldn't. UV and freeze-thaw break down the sealer over time. Granite's better for outdoors.
